Internationally acclaimed "2019 New Taipei City Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival" kicks off during the Lunar New Year!

Voted by the well-known travel website TripAdvisor as "Taiwan's most recommended cultural event for international visitors" - the New Taipei City Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival held its kick-off press conference yesterday (the 22nd), officially announcing that two grand sky lantern release evenings will be held during the Lunar New Year on 2/16 (Saturday, the 12th day of the first lunar month) and 2/19 (Tuesday, the 15th day of the first lunar month, the Lantern Festival). This year's event not only features a collaboration with an emerging illustrator to showcase the aesthetic fusion of traditional sky lanterns and modern art, but also, following the popularity of the local tour itinerary launched last year (year 107 of the Republic of China), this year (year 108 of the Republic of China) a warm and great-value "399 Pingxi Experience Tour" has been planned again. In addition to a rich local guided tour and DIY activities, participants can also take part in the sky lantern release activity of the Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival and receive an exquisite small gift, making it the best place for people to go out and enjoy the spring!

This year's "Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival" will hold one sky lantern release evening each during the Lunar New Year on 2/16 (Saturday) at Pingxi Junior High School, and on 2/19, the Lantern Festival (Tuesday), at Shifen Square. For the 2/19 Lantern Festival event, international cruise passengers have also been invited to take part in the sky lantern release, promoting the "Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival" to the cruise market, which has considerable development potential. At the same time, free sky lantern release tickets will also be distributed on time at 10 a.m. on the day of the event at the event venue. Those who wish to personally experience the spectacular scene of hundreds of sky lanterns being released together are advised to plan their time in advance to get tickets and join in this one of Taiwan's most famous international festivals!
