Taitung County Government Takes the Lead in Building the Red Quinoa Specialty Industry

Taitung red quinoa has become a hit, and Taitung's specialty sightseeing tourism has become a hit along with it! Led by the Taitung County Government, 20 local hotel and accommodation operators, together with the Taitung Branch of the Soil and Water Conservation Bureau of the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan, the Taitung County Farmers' Association, and the Taimali Township Farmers' Association, and timed to coincide with the Chinese New Year period of the "2019 Taitung Red Quinoa Season," they are heavily promoting Taitung's red quinoa specialty industry tourism, attracting people from all over Taiwan to come to Taitung and, while visiting, "admire red quinoa," "taste red quinoa," and "buy red quinoa," supporting excellent local agricultural products and marketing Taitung.

As soon as Taitung County Magistrate Rao Ching-ling took office, she emphasized that she would invigorate the development of local specialty agriculture and drive the direction of tribal tourism industry. The first recommendation is Taitung red quinoa, paired with the "Taitung Red Quinoa Season" series of events held for four consecutive years for joint marketing and promotion, hoping that Taitung red quinoa can become one of Taitung's most distinctive souvenirs.

The Taitung County Government and the Taitung Branch of the Soil and Water Conservation Bureau specially held a preparatory meeting for the "2019 Taitung Red Quinoa Season" yesterday (the 18th), chaired by County Magistrate Rao Ching-ling, and attended by Wang Chih-hui, Director of the Taitung Branch of the Soil and Water Conservation Bureau, Tai Chen-tung, General Manager of the Taitung County Farmers' Association, Chuang Ching-hui, General Manager of the Taimali Township Farmers' Association, Councilor Li Shu-cha, Pan Kuei-lan, Chairman of the Taitung County Tourism Association, and 20 cooperating restaurant operators.

This year's Taitung Red Quinoa Season specially invited 20 restaurants and hotel and accommodation operators to use red quinoa in dishes or for storefront decoration and arrangement during the Chinese New Year period. In addition, a red quinoa installation art exhibition was specially arranged, offering a highly distinctive local tribal display that promises to be spectacular. It is hoped that "Taitung red quinoa" can be built into the nation's only premium brand.
