Do you like cucumbers as a vegetable? In the consumer market, the demand for cucumbers is relatively high. Would you like to grow cucumbers yourself? Then come and learn about when cucumbers are planted and the methods for growing cucumbers.

For spring cucumbers, sow 40-50 days before transplanting, and transplant after the local last frost. For autumn cucumbers, sow about 70 days before the first frost, and for seedling transplanting, sow 7-10 days earlier.

Cultivation techniques for open-field cucumbers:

1. Temperature. The most suitable temperature for growing cucumbers is 10-32°C. At 35°C, photosynthesis in cucumbers is poor; at 45°C, high-temperature damage occurs; and at low temperatures of -2 to 0°C, they freeze to death.

2. Light. South China-type cucumber varieties are relatively sensitive to short daylight, while North China-type varieties have low requirements for day length; most varieties grow well under short-day conditions of 8-11 hours.

3. Water is an important factor affecting cucumber yield. The best soil moisture for cucumbers is 60-90%. During the seedling stage, cucumbers should not receive too much water, but when fruiting, they must be given sufficient water. If the relative air humidity is too high, cucumbers are very prone to disease, which causes reduced yield.

4. Soil. For growing cucumbers, it is best to choose soil rich in organic matter. Soil with a pH between 5.5 and 7.2 is best, and a pH of 6.5 is optimal.

5. Fertilization. Cucumbers generally have high fertilizer requirements when fruiting and need decomposed organic fertilizer, urea and diammonium phosphate 6, as well as potassium chloride.
Now you know how to grow cucumbers. Growing cucumbers is relatively easy, and they do not have high requirements for the growing environment. You can try growing them!
