Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je attended the inaugural meeting of the Taiwan Industrial Cooperation and Development Association at noon on the 7th. Mayor Ko Wen-je expressed his hope that the association could become an integrated platform for industry, government, and academia, build consensus, and promote industrial development. He also once again emphasized that innovation and entrepreneurship are the only way out for Taiwan's economy.

Mayor Ko Wen-je said that Taiwan does not have abundant natural resources, and the only thing it can use is brainpower. When entrepreneurship becomes Taiwan's only way out, many things need to be experimented with, and before doing experiments, communication must come first. Better communication can further increase the success rate of experiments. Therefore, after taking office, he had many ideas for innovation across the entire city of Taipei, including setting up a one-stop entrepreneurship service office on the first floor of the city government. He did not want the public's enthusiasm for entrepreneurship to disappear five minutes after they walk into the city government because of complicated and cumbersome administrative procedures.

Furthermore, Mayor Ko Wen-je mentioned that over the past 4 years, the Taipei City Government's awards and subsidized loans exceeded 2.2 billion yuan. He is thinking that, rather than giving awards, could the city government use investment methods to make city government subsidies or investments in innovative businesses more efficient.

Mayor Ko Wen-je further pointed out that the city government has organized many matchmaking events, inviting foreign innovation teams to Taipei every year. In addition, 10 of 22 innovation bases have already opened. He hoped that if possible, the Department of Economic Development could speed things up a bit more, especially by bringing together the incubation centers of many universities in Taipei to consider the feasibility of backdoor listings.

Mayor Ko Wen-je said that in the future, the city government will hold more regular symposiums with industry, hoping that enterprises will tell the city government what difficulties they encounter during development, so they can be categorized and solved one by one. As the environment continues to improve, enterprises can make money more efficiently.
