Taichung Flora Expo "Flower Wishing Bridge" invites the public to arrange flowers every weekend in January

Autumn and winter are the blooming season for lilies and dancing-lady orchids. To promote local flowers, the Taichung City Agriculture Bureau, starting yesterday (the 1st) for four consecutive days, is not only displaying floral art in the atrium of the Huizhong Building of the City Hall, but has also planned the second-floor sky bridge of the Lenong Hall in the Waipu area of the Flora Expo as the "Flower Wishing Bridge," providing 4,000 flowers every weekend in January and inviting visitors to take part in flower arranging, spreading New Year blessings and showcasing the beauty of Taichung's flowers.

The Taichung City Agriculture Bureau said that Taichung has a wide variety of flowers, and lilies and dancing-lady orchids are especially suited to Taichung's climate and environment, with both output and quality ranking first in Taiwan, China. The main production areas are in Houli, Xinshe and other districts. The lily planting area is about 194 hectares, with an annual output of 41 million stems, widely used in gardening arrangements and cut-flower decoration; the dancing-lady orchid is a tropical flower with a distinctive flower shape, graceful form and long flowering period. Because its appearance resembles a dancing woman, it is also called the dancing orchid. Its planting area is about 105 hectares, with an annual output of 27 million stems.

To welcome 2019, the Lenong Hall in the Waipu area has specially planned its second-floor sky bridge as the "Flower Wishing Bridge," using lilies and dancing-lady orchids from local Taichung flower farmers and inviting visiting tourists to arrange them on site together. Each person receives one lily to insert into a water bottle, representing peace and safety and a harmonious union lasting a hundred years, and makes a New Year's wish, hoping that on the day the flowers bloom, the wish will blossom along with them.

In addition, every weekend in January (1/5, 1/6, 1/12, 1/13, 1/19, 1/20, 1/26, 1/27), the Lenong Hall will also hold flower wishing activities, providing 4,000 lilies and dancing-lady orchids each week and inviting visitors to jointly decorate the Flower Wishing Bridge. This not only conveys the beauty of Taichung's local flowers, but also promotes local flowers through direct local production and sales, and uses the Wishing Bridge to spread people's wishes and blessings to welcome the brand-new year.
