20190105 Taiwan-Japan School Lunch Moments - 2018 13th Japan National School Lunch Koshien Study Tour Sharing Session

In October 2018, the Big Enjoyment Food Education Association held the first Taiwan School Lunch Competition, using it as a starting point to carry out a gentle social movement for school lunches.

On December 6, partners from the Big Enjoyment Food Education Association, together with Liu Qinyu, Associate Professor of the Department of Nutritional Science at Fu Jen Catholic University, Yang Ruiping, dietitian at New Taipei City Xiufeng Elementary School and champion of the first Taiwan School Competition, and Chef Zhu Fengmei, among others, went to Tokyo to observe the 13th Japan National School Lunch Koshien Competition, opening the first frontline exchange between Taiwan and Japan school lunch staff.

In addition, they took this rare opportunity to successively visit the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology school lunch investigator, the Tokyo Metropolitan School Lunch Association, Tokyo Funabori Elementary School, Fuchu City Municipal School Lunch Center, the National School Lunch Association, and the Japan Food Education Association, among multiple official institutions and civil organizations, to understand how Japan uses forces at different levels to improve the quality of school lunches and people's awareness of dietary choices.

This study tour sharing session is the first important event of the Big Enjoyment Food Education Association in 2019, and invites four speakers: Secretary-General Huang Jialin of this association, Associate Professor Liu Qinyu, dietitian Yang Ruiping, and researcher Chen Ruwei. Each will share various aspects of this study tour with friends in Taiwan who care about food, from the perspectives of civil organizations and movements, school kitchen practice, dietitian education and training, and publication and promotion.
