394 businesses in Taichung City join the "Green Friendly Store" program

The Taichung City Environmental Protection Bureau has guided commercial districts in carrying out the "Plastic Reduction, Low Carbon, Fresh Living Circle" campaign, and 394 businesses have already joined the "Green Friendly Store" program. It has also invited 13 contracted stores and 2 schools to set up caring beverage bag lending. The recycling stations have accumulated 5,416 uses, and 11,013 instances of people responding to plastic-reduction actions such as bringing their own tableware or shopping bags. Yesterday (the 13th), the city government presented awards to commend the Yizhong and Yimin commercial districts, schools, contracted stores, and environmental protection resource recycling volunteer teams for jointly responding to environmental protection policies, and looks forward to more units participating in the future to continue promoting household waste reduction.

The Taichung City Environmental Protection Bureau stated that in order to promote source reduction among the public, the city government is advancing "Green Friendly Stores," upholding the environmental concepts of "using fewer plastic shopping bags and encouraging people to bring their own beverage cups," "carbon reduction and energy saving," and "reducing cooking fumes." Starting in August this year, priority guidance was given to stores in the Yizhong Commercial District and Yimin Commercial District to implement environmentally friendly ideas, advocate reducing the use of disposable items, provide discount measures for customers who bring their own tableware, improve electricity consumption, and install air pollution control equipment, promoting the three indicators of "plastic reduction, low carbon, and freshness" and encouraging businesses to become "Green Friendly Stores."
