Employment for people with disabilities is safe: the Yunlin County Government stands with you

The Yunlin County Government understands the impact people with disabilities face from their environment and obstacles, and the many difficulties encountered on the road to employment. Therefore, to assist people with disabilities in finding work, it has planned a series of employment companion counseling programs covering pre-employment preparation, skills training, career exploration, and job matching, followed by stable employment counseling after successful matching. Professional case managers are arranged to assist with these services. It is hoped that through such individualized services, people with disabilities can achieve more stable employment. Statistics show that in the current year (ROC 107), resources such as vocational training, pre-employment preparation, workplace experience, job matching, career exploration, and sheltered employment services have already been provided to 250 people with disabilities.

County Magistrate Li Chin-yung stated that because friends with disabilities each have their own uniqueness and strengths, the vocational reconstruction services they need also differ. Through the professional services arranged by the county government, friends with disabilities who want to work can find employment smoothly.

Analyzing the causes of disability among those receiving employment counseling from the county government, two-thirds are congenital, and one-third are acquired factors. Among the acquired cases, some come from illness and some from accidents or car crashes. For friends with disabilities who are willing to work, after in-depth assessment and interviews by vocational reconstruction case managers, one-on-one methods are used according to different disability conditions to jointly draw up with the job-seeking person with a disability their own job-seeking plan and career and occupation direction, increasing the suitability and stability of their employment. This allows them to have income and reduce the family burden, while also improving the self-confidence and self-identity of people with disabilities.
