"Xiyuan" Urban River Environment Documentary

Xiyuan, flowing gently from the source in mountain streams toward the other side of the sea - what is your impression of rivers? What do you imagine mountain streams and urban rivers to be like? A small stream flows gently along, telling its story: stream crabs, fish, aquatic insects, water birds, aquatic plants, paddy fields. From wild mountain streams to urban rivers near where people live, people are growing further and further away from clean, accessible natural streams. Human destruction and improper river management, domestic sewage, industrial wastewater and concrete engineering - for all these reasons, people are increasingly distant from rivers. Urban rivers have even become filthy open drains. Water birds cannot find food in the stinking ditches. The entire stream food chain collapses. Garbage and waste discarded near water bodies, whether in rivers or lakes, will ultimately end up in the ocean.

12/14 Let us explore together the story of a river's waste all the way to the ocean.
