On May 25 last year, March Against Monsanto protests were held around the world, with participants in 436 cities across 52 countries.Tami Monroe Canal, a housewife who launched the anti-Monsanto demonstration on Facebook, said her original motivation was for her two daughters: "I feel that Monsanto is threatening the health, fertility and lifespan of their generation, and I cannot stand by and do nothing." This year's global March Against Monsanto day is 5/24 (Sat), and Taiwan is not absent! Events are being held from north to south, and everyone is invited to take to the streets to learn about GM food and speak out: "I want food sovereignty, and I refuse to be a GMO guinea pig!"

Q: Why participate in the March Against Monsanto?

A: Originally a maker of defoliants and pesticides, it is now a multinational corporation promoting genetic modification, and through applying for GMO patents it forbids farmers from saving seeds. Now more than 90% of GM seeds in the United States are in Monsanto's hands. They ignore the risks of genetic modification and dominate the direction of humanity's food supply, and GM seeds have also caused farmers to go bankrupt and brought environmental and ecological disasters.

Monsanto is growing stronger and richer, but the choices available to all humanity are shrinking. Farmers' incomes are getting lower, and the land is getting more barren. More and more of the soybeans consumers eat are GM soybeans. Worse still, because pesticides and fertilizers are used more and more heavily in the production process, pesticide residues on soybeans are getting higher and higher. That is why, from 2011 to now, Monsanto has repeatedly been chosen as the world's "worst" company.
