Yongsheng embraces organic agriculture

Yongsheng, a member of the Rukai people, originally came to Taipei to pursue his own musical dream, but because his family's farmland had long used chemical fertilizers, the soil gradually became depleted, and the family's income became unstable as a result, so Yongsheng had no choice but to return to the tribe to help. It so happened that in the 97th year of the Republic of China (2008), the Kaohsiung Improvement Station was promoting organic agriculture, and in the past, when Yongsheng's Rukai ancestors planted crops in the mountains, they actually did not need much weeding, and even the fertilizer was obtained from natural sources. Yongsheng began to persuade his parents not to spray pesticides, and used his slack farming season to study at the agricultural improvement station and take out loans.

For farming friends who also want to pursue organic cultivation, Yongsheng gave some advice. Taking himself as an example, at the beginning Yongsheng was also a farming novice. He paid out of his own pocket to enroll in organic courses at the Pingtung Community University to learn knowledge about organic planting. During the slack farming season, he was even more diligent in making use of training courses at the Farmers' Academy, signing up for organic cultivation technology workshop classes at various agricultural improvement stations. Constantly recharging himself and absorbing knowledge and concepts is necessary; in addition, through the Farmers' Academy he looked for products, channels, and sales outlets, gradually accumulating customers, creating a stable income, and realizing the organic dream in his heart.
