Infrared automatic cameras make poachers of the yellow-margined box turtle appear in a second

The yellow-margined box turtle, a protected species, has repeatedly been smuggled to China by unscrupulous operators in recent years. At the end of last year, the Council of Agriculture set up Asia's first yellow-margined box turtle protection zone at Feitsui Reservoir. The Feitsui Reservoir Administration brought out a secret weapon: before the end of June it will purchase 22 far-infrared automatic cameras, equipped with 3G signals to transmit data immediately. The Administration will send police to close in from two directions, catching the culprits like turtles in a jar; together with the "Yellow-Margined Box Turtle Rehabilitation Halfway House" established in March this year, which takes in injured individuals and those awaiting release into the wild, it builds a Noah's Ark for the yellow-margined box turtle.
