Cart with a built-in child seat, designed by a Yunlin University of Science and Technology graduate for a single mom's breakfast cart

Every morning, rushing to class, rushing for the bus, rushing for the MRT, the hot soy milk and egg crepes from the tiny cart at the alley entrance become a little bit of everyday happiness - but have you ever taken a careful look at the person who hands you that warm soy milk?

Ko Cheng-han and Chen Yu-hsuan, students in the Department of Industrial Design at Yunlin University of Science and Technology, discovered that many owners of mobile food carts are disadvantaged single-parent families who must take care of their children while pushing their carts around to sell breakfast. For their senior-year graduation project, they designed a "single mom's mobile breakfast cart," a niche product in the design market, equipped with a pull-out small space beside the counter so preschool children can rest and play. Although they admit that mobile food carts are illegal, they hope to use this to draw attention to problems in society. "Going to university should mean using knowledge to help people, and noticing what society needs."
