Yilan residents demand enforcement of farmland for farming and farmhouses for farming use

Passing through the Xueshan Tunnel, luxurious farmhouses are scattered among the lush green rice paddies. Since the opening of the Xueshan Tunnel in Yilan, the speed of "planting farmhouses" has rivaled that of planting rice. The local civil society group "Guard Yilan Workshop" held a small forum yesterday for the first time, pointing out that farmhouses not only cause wastewater pollution, but also, standing in the middle of the fields, make the already narrow farmland even more fragmented and unfavorable for cultivation. They will subsequently launch a petition demanding that the government enforce regulations for "farmland for farming, farmhouses for farming use."
