Teacher Zhang's 2014 Children's Ecology Camp Activity Introduction
What? Teacher Zhang also teaches you to identify snakes?
Oh! Not the Teacher Zhang from the Life Line, but Teacher Zhang from the Department of Biological Sciences at Sun Yat-sen University.
Every summer vacation, no matter how busy he is with papers, Teacher Zhang and his graduate students always take the children up into the mountains to get to know those friends in nature. This year's activity runs 7/1-3, at the Tataka area of Yushan National Park, teaching children about high-altitude plants, birds, reptiles, and mammals, as well as nature games designed around the surrounding environment. Besides getting to know animals, the children also develop teamwork, patience, and observation skills!
Watch as the graduate student big brothers and big sisters bring out their best skills to find mysterious animals you could never see ordinarily - millipedes, spiders, all kinds of insects, each with their own different names! Besides daytime observation, nighttime is when wild animals begin their activity. Reeves's muntjac, serow, and flying squirrels are all animals that are easier to spot after dusk. How do you go about finding them?
Want a summer vacation spent tracking wildlife in the high mountains and making friends with animals? Elementary school students in grades 3-6 are welcome to sign up right away!
