Taichung World Flora Exposition Grandly Opens, Mayor Lin Chia-lung High-Fives to Welcome First Visitors

The 2018 Taichung World Flora Exposition officially opened on the 3rd, with opening ceremonies held simultaneously at 9 AM at the three major exhibition areas of Houli, Fengyuan and Waipu. Mayor Lin Chia-lung went to the Houli Forest Park area to high-five the first batch of visitors entering the park one by one, joyfully entering to visit; at the Houli Horse Ranch area, Deputy Mayor Lin Ling-san and Kazakh equestrian performance riders jointly welcomed visitors into the park; the Waipu area was unveiled by Deputy Mayor Chang Kuang-yao together with a local food and agriculture education demonstration elementary school; and the Fengyuan Hulu Dun area, themed around bridal flowers, was romantically opened by Deputy Mayor Lin Yi-ying together with 6 golden wedding couples.

After more than 2,000 days of preparation and effort, the Taichung World Flora Exposition grandly debuted on the 3rd. Mayor Lin Chia-lung went to the Houli Forest Park area to participate in the unveiling ceremony. First, the "Philharmonic Surprise Choir" delivered flash-mob performances of several songs including "The Future Is Not a Dream," "Four Seasons Red" and "Please Listen," and he high-fived the first batch of visitors entering one by one, welcoming everyone to visit the flora exposition.

The first visitor to enter the park was Atsushi Futagami from Japan. Since high school he had participated as an exposition service staff member, having taken part in many world expos. When entering, he excitedly showed his flora exposition ticket card and happily high-fived Mayor Lin Chia-lung. Grandma Liu from Shalu District said she was very happy and could not sleep at all. She left home early in the morning to take the free shuttle bus to the Houli area, queued and waited to enter, and was very glad that Taichung could have such a good event. Besides today, she would often come again to enjoy it when she has the chance.

The Taichung City Government stated that the flora exposition runs from November 3 this year to April 24 next year. The half-year event features a rich variety of static exhibitions and dynamic performances. In different exhibition areas, visitors can experience the various aspects of flowers and agriculture, and there are wonderful exhibitions that are both entertaining and educational. The whole world is welcome to visit the flora exposition together and listen to the sound of flowers blooming.
