Tainan's "2018 Yiyou Yuejin - Yanshui Commercial District Yimen Festival" kicked off on the 28th

"2018 Yiyou Yuejin - Yanshui Commercial District Yimen Festival" kicked off amid great excitement yesterday (the 28th) in front of the Bajiao Tower in Yanshui, Tainan. Tainan Mayor Li Meng-yen, Tainan City Council Speaker Lai Mei-hui and representatives from all walks of life unveiled the event. The program was rich, including "Douzhen Lai Caijie", "Stamp Collecting and Lucky Draw Fun", "Specialty Food Tasting", "Small Farmer Market" and the "Art Tour of Yuejin, Paint My Yanshui" sketching competition, among others, showcasing the local charm of Yanshui.

Mayor Li Meng-yen said that Yanshui Yuejin is an important landmark in the Xibei area. It has culture, historic sites, beautiful scenery and specialty products, making it very suitable for promoting tourism. Yimen is one of Yanshui's most representative specialties, and its fame goes without saying. Holding the Yanshui Commercial District Yimen Festival is not only to promote Yanshui yimen, but also to use it to drive more local foods and culture to become characteristic industries of Yanshui. Mayor Li Meng-yen joked that many shops all over Taiwan put up signs for Yanshui yimen, and the district office should find a way to register the "Yanshui yimen" trademark and collect royalties from the shops that use it. He also mentioned that a plate of Italian pasta often costs over 100 yuan, while a bowl of Yanshui yimen is mostly just a few dozen yuan, showing that there is still considerable room for growth. All sectors should work together to research new ways of eating it, improve quality and strengthen marketing to build the Yanshui yimen brand.

In addition, the "2018 Yanshui Good Shops Voting" held by the Yanshui District Office this year has also been announced on the district office's official website. This year it was held in the form of online voting, divided into food category and specialty category shops. The 6 selected food category shops include Charcoal-Grilled Egg Cake, Yanshui Snack City Winter Melon Tea, A-San Yimen, A-Miao Yimen, Qiaonan Coffee Food Hall and Cai Family Sausage; the 3 specialty category shops are Yongcheng Theater, Dongwenshe Printing Bureau and Yueyue Studio. Tourists from all over are welcome to follow the list and come to Yanshui for sightseeing and to see for themselves.
