Master the little tricks of asparagus fern care: one plant becomes many, with green leaves and abundant vigorous new shoots

Asparagus fern, verdant as clouds, is a particularly elegant and refined potted plant. Although it blooms rarely, its branches and leaves are full of greenery, ethereal and beautiful. People who like asparagus fern are cultured, scholarly and rather artistic. Many friends grow asparagus fern. If you happen to have a pot of asparagus fern at home that is fairly lush, you can try division propagation; both spring and autumn are suitable for dividing.
Divide and grow asparagus fern like this, just one simple little step, one plant becomes many, the more you grow it the greener the leaves, with many new shoots sprouting and vigorous growth!
There are two ways to propagate asparagus fern. One is sowing seeds, which takes more time; the other is division propagation, which is very simple and easy to do. Xiaoya does it this way every time. Some friends say asparagus fern can be propagated by cuttings, but that is actually impossible; division is the simplest and most useful propagation method. A well-grown, fairly lush asparagus fern can be divided into three or four plants without any problem. Because asparagus fern is clump-growing, once it has grown for three years, new shoots will emerge from the roots, making the plant grow bigger and bigger.
Division techniques for asparagus fern
Choose the time: spring and autumn, when the temperature is suitable and asparagus fern is in its growing period. Smaller asparagus fern just needs repotting, and larger asparagus fern also needs its potting soil changed once a year, so when repotting you can divide it directly.
Water once a day in advance to make the potting soil slightly moist, then take the asparagus fern out of the pot together with its roots and soil. Remove part of the soil, trying not to damage the root system. You can see some connecting places at the roots; gently pull them apart. If there are wounds, dip them in some carbendazim or plant ash. Let them dry for about an hour. Then prepare fertile, loose, breathable soil and plant the divisions separately in pots.
One asparagus fern can be divided into three to four plants, or even five. After planting separately, as long as the root system is not damaged, they take shape fairly quickly and grow vigorously. Water thoroughly once, place in a ventilated spot without direct sunlight, with a little scattered light, and keep the soil slightly moist; after a week you can care for them normally.
Care for asparagus fern after division
Asparagus fern is suited to growing at a temperature of around 20 degrees. In winter, pay attention to keeping it warm and protecting it from the cold; in summer, when the temperature exceeds 30 degrees, it needs to be placed in a cool, ventilated spot. When the temperature is high and the air is dry, spray water to maintain a certain air humidity. When the soil is dry, water it, but there must be no waterlogging.
Asparagus fern is fairly sensitive to light, so it must not be exposed to direct sunlight; keeping it in a spot with scattered light is enough. If the asparagus fern grows rather tall, you can prune it a little.
For regular fertilizing, use mainly thin fertilizer and diluted organic fertilizer water, such as diluted fermented soybean water, rice-washing water and so on. In this way it will keep sprouting new shoots and new roots and grow vigorously!
