Every time you look at other people's succulents, they always have such unique and striking shapes, but your own succulents always look droopy and lifeless, or they easily get leggy, as if they have grown deformed. Usually, insufficient light or too much watering during care can very easily cause succulents to become leggy.

1. Beheading

The beheading point should be a bit lower down. The root stock at the bottom can still grow new small shoots again, and it is very likely to sprout multiple small shoots! As for the thicker leaves, they can be used for leaf propagation, and the top stem can also be used for cutting propagation.

2. Cuttings

If you have rooting powder at home, you can apply a little rooting powder to the wounds on the stems and leaves. This can sterilize and disinfect, prevent the succulents from rotting during the cutting process, and also promote rooting.

The leaves that are removed need to be cultivated by leaf propagation. When removing the leaves, you need to be careful: pinch the base of the leaf, then twist left and right, and you can easily get a complete leaf. If the base of the succulent leaf is damaged, it will easily fail to sprout.

To increase the success rate of leaf propagation, choose a warm, shaded place. The soil should be loose and airy, and a bit moist. Place the leaves with the front side facing up, and gently press the base of the leaf into the soil. There is no need to insert it completely into the soil. This can promote the sprouting of small seedlings.

The small shoots growing from the leaves grow relatively slowly, and we need to be extremely patient. Do not rush to repot either. Wait until the nutrients in the leaf are completely exhausted and it naturally withers, then repot the seedlings. This will greatly increase the success rate of propagation.

Through this kind of handling, besides solving the problem of leggy succulents, you can also gain several pots of succulents, which is a good thing that kills multiple birds with one stone.
