Orchids are widely loved for their graceful form and rich fragrance, but if you want them to grow lush and bloom abundantly, you really do need to know some care techniques. As the saying goes: "Understanding orchid care is easy, but watering takes ten years of skill." From this you can see how important watering is for growing orchids. So when watering orchids, the following kinds of water must absolutely not be used, otherwise the orchids will not only fail to grow well, but will also find it very hard to bloom.

1, Alkaline water. Most water in northern regions is alkaline, while orchids prefer a slightly acidic growing medium. If alkaline water is used to water orchids over the long term, it will cause poor growth, compacted soil, and make blooming difficult. The way to fix this is: put some fruit peels into the water (apple peels, orange peels, etc.), let them soak for 24 hours before use; this can increase the acidity of the water and can also remove the chlorine from tap water. You can also use a container to collect some rainwater on rainy days, preferably thunderstorm rainwater; watering orchids with this water can make them grow vigorously.

2, Fertilizer water you do not understand. Orchids are plants that are very sensitive to fertilizer water, but many flower lovers, in order to make their orchids grow lush and bloom abundantly, sometimes cannot wait to feed them fertilizer water, and the result is the opposite of what they wanted. So before watering orchids with fertilizer water, you must first clearly understand its effect and dosage, and do not apply it casually. When you do not understand it, it is best to use some orchid-specific nutrient solution; this can add nutrients for the orchids without causing harm to them.

3, Tea. Tea is mostly alkaline, and long-term use will cause the soil to become compacted, which is bad for orchid growth. In addition, do not use tap water alone when watering orchids; you can put some willow bark or willow branches into the water in advance, let them soak for 1 day, and then use it. This kind of water can not only provide nutrients for orchids, but the substances it contains can promote the growth of orchid roots, making the roots thick and the leaves strong.
