Grow scallions and chili peppers at home in a few boxes; a handful of seeds gives you a continuous harvest

Even if the balcony is tiny, even if you only have a small terrace or a rooftop, make good use of it. With a little careful tending, you can create a small vegetable garden with your own hands, growing vegetables your family eats often. Seeing the lush green vegetables every day gives you a feeling of vibrant life. Whenever you have time, just look at your balcony vegetable garden or terrace, water a little, fertilize a little, and you can grow plenty of vegetables with simple effort. Growing vegetables is actually great fun and very easy.
Growing vegetables at home, a handful of seeds and a few boxes, and you can grow a small vegetable garden with frequent pickings. The chili peppers, greens and scallions you grow produce a lot, one harvest after another!
If you want to grow vegetables but cannot find a place or containers for them, you can find some very common boxes from daily life: wooden crates, foam boxes, plastic boxes, old flower pots and so on. The vegetables grown in them thrive especially well.
To grow some scallions and red shallots, you can use scallion roots or seeds. Scallions grown from seed grow slowly at first, then very fast later. When harvesting, just cut the leaves to eat and leave the roots to keep growing.
Lettuce is also a vegetable you can grow all year round. You can grow lettuce in spring, autumn and winter, and you can simply sow a little seed directly. It sprouts in at most a week. At first, eat the young seedlings, and later you can pick the leaves, so you can harvest over a longer period.
Chili peppers are also one of the easiest vegetables to grow. Just find some chili seeds and prepare a little soil; ordinary soil works too. Sow in spring. If the local temperature is fairly warm, you can also grow chili peppers in autumn. They sprout a week after sowing. One or two plants per pot is enough. Pinch off the top and the chili plants bear more fruit. Fertilize more often. If you have children at home and you are not squeamish, well-rotted manure works too.
If you cannot find fertilizer for growing vegetables, you can make your own nutrient-rich organic fertilizer by hand: for example, the okara left after making soy milk at home, rice-washing water, and the water used to boil beans, especially soybean water, which is very nutritious and rich in nitrogen fertilizer. Collect it in a large oil jug and leave it for two or three months, and it becomes excellent organic fertilizer. Dilute it with water and pour it on the vegetables. You can see them grow, and the vegetables look proper, with especially large, plump leaves, lush and green.
In autumn you can grow some cold-hardy vegetables, such as Chinese cabbage, bok choy, radish greens and so on. That way you still have vegetables to eat when the weather turns cold.
There are also celtuce, lettuce and leafy lettuce, all very easy to grow and very suitable for home growing. Scatter a few seeds in the soil and they will shoot up quickly. Remember to thin the seedlings, and they will grow into bigger plants.
Vegetables you grow yourself taste even better. Looking at a balcony full of vegetables, a scene of lush green, you cannot help but feel delighted.
