Outrageous! 15 metric tons of dioxin-tainted hairy crabs imported from China illegally sold on the market; public fears they may have eaten them

The Food and Drug Administration of the Ministry of Health and Welfare (hereinafter referred to as the FDA) announced that a total of 15 metric tons of hairy crabs imported from China were found to contain dioxin, the "poison of the century," and are suspected to have already entered the market and been eaten by the public! The entire case is under investigation by the Keelung District Prosecutors Office.

Did you know: Where in crabs is dioxin most likely to accumulate? People in Taiwan often eat crab liver, pancreas, crab roe and crab paste, and these parts have a higher chance of containing dioxin. When eating crabs, people in Taiwan directly eat the yellow part first seen under the shell, mistakenly thinking it is "crab roe"; in fact, this part is the crab's liver and hepatopancreas. The darker-colored part beside it is the crab roe of female crabs, while the crab paste of male crabs is white and thick, making it easier to distinguish. Therefore, if the surrounding hepatopancreas is eaten as well, the risk of consuming dioxin is relatively higher.
