Snip the leaves of the Christmas cactus and watch new shoots and flower buds burst out together

When growing plants you have to learn to make choices. While they are still small seedlings, you need to plan well and map out their growth. Take the Christmas cactus, for example: if you want it to grow well, branch more and bloom more, you have to start controlling it during the growing season. Below, Yatou is going to tell everyone the method.

The leaves must be snipped

If your Christmas cactus has relatively few leaves and is not growing vigorously, you can try snipping off the leaves at the top! This promotes the sprouting of side buds. (Yatou is not a professional, so some of the terms used to describe each part of the Christmas cactus may be inaccurate. Please bear with me, everyone, as long as you can understand it.)

The Christmas cactus grows in segments, one after another, and each segment produces many little joints. What we need to do is snip off the small joint at the very top. Be careful not to get pricked on the hand.

After the top leaves are snipped off, many new leaves will grow, and each segment will burst out 2-3 of them. At this point you have to make choices: pinch off the ones without enough room to grow, pinch off the weaker ones, and just keep a few according to the principle of even distribution.

When the little tender shoots you kept grow another 4 leaves, snip off the topmost leaf again! Repeat this cycle, and the Christmas cactus will end up with a very full and abundant shape.
