Many people choose pothos as the main plant to grow when keeping greenery at home, and actually, on second thought, there is nothing wrong with that. After all, pothos is not only evergreen all year round, but also especially easy to keep alive. But here is the problem: keeping it alive is not the same as keeping it well. In fact, people who really know how to grow pothos tend to be especially particular about certain details, such as the repotting we are introducing today, which involves a great deal of knowledge. If you are not quite satisfied with the pothos in your home right now, then perhaps today's article will be of some help to you!

What is so particular about repotting pothos?

I believe many friends want to know this question. Actually, it is very simple. In the whole repotting process, you only need to pay attention to two aspects: the pot and the soil. First, the flowerpot should be a clay pot with good air permeability, and the bottom of the pot must have a drainage hole. The size of the flowerpot needs to be decided according to the actual growth of the pothos. Generally, about 20 cm smaller than the diameter of the pothos leaf crown is fine. As for the soil, pothos likes loose, breathable, sandy loam rich in humus. You can choose to mix peat soil, perlite, and vermiculite in a 3:1:1 ratio.

The specific steps for repotting pothos:

Repotting pothos is actually very simple. First, we need to stop watering the pothos two days in advance. After its soil dries out, slowly take the pothos out of the original flowerpot. Note that during the removal process you can shake it a little, so that as much of the root-protecting soil as possible can be shaken off the roots, and it is also convenient for us to check whether the roots of the pothos are damaged. If there is damage, you can cut it off with sterilized scissors, then place it in a ventilated place to let the wound dry, then put the pothos into the new pot and fill it with new soil.

It is best to disinfect the soil for growing pothos in advance. The various planting materials in it can first be exposed to the sun for 1 day, so as to kill the bacteria and insect eggs in it.

The pothos newly placed back into the flowerpot needs to be watered thoroughly once, then placed in a cool, ventilated place for a period of acclimatization. During this period, keep the soil moist, which helps the roots of the pothos quickly adapt to the new environment. But at the same time, also be careful not to cause water accumulation in the pot, which could lead to root rot.

After about a week, the pothos will be able to fully adapt to the new environment. At this point, we can supplement various nutrients for the pothos according to the usual care methods. Of course, because of the "autumn tiger", we should also pay attention to cooling the pothos. By managing the supply of water, fertilizer, and other aspects well, the pothos will definitely grow better.
