Many people love growing lucky bamboo. It can be said to be the indoor plant with the best symbolism, but few people manage to grow one with a truly prosperous look. Huahua recently happened to see a 2-meter-tall lucky bamboo at a friend's home. It was especially impressive, and I was so envious. Let's take a look together below!

A 2-meter-tall lucky bamboo, impressive and prosperous

The lucky bamboo my friend grows in water has 12 stems in total and has been grown for 2 years. During that time there was not much care. When the water ran low, they just added water. No nutrient solution was ever used, and as a result it grew taller and taller, almost poking the ceiling!

Some flower lovers have also grown lucky bamboo like this. In autumn and winter, placing it in the living room gives you so much face!

After seeing other people's lucky bamboo, are you feeling envious? Below, Huahua will teach everyone how to grow lucky bamboo well!

How to grow lucky bamboo in water?

1. Cut the base at an angle

The base of newly bought lucky bamboo is usually sealed with wax, so part of it must be cut off, and cut at an angle to increase the water contact area and make it easier to root.

Many people find that not long after buying it, the leaves turn yellow. It is probably because they did not first cut off part of the base.

2. Treat tap water

If you are using tap water to grow it, it is best to let it sit in the sun for 1~2 days first to let the chlorine evaporate; if you use purified water, there is no need to sun it.

3. Water culture

Prepare a clean transparent glass bottle, fill it 1/3 with water, insert the lucky bamboo, then place it in a ventilated, shady spot and wait for it to root.

4. Care

Do not move its position before it roots

, do not expose it to the sun, just add water when the water runs low, and do not add nutrient solution, otherwise the leaves will immediately turn yellow; after it roots, you can add 2 drops of general-purpose hydroponic nutrient solution.

Growing lucky bamboo in water is actually not hard. What is hard is how to grow it well. Just yellow leaves alone stump a whole crowd. Below, Huahua will teach everyone how to deal with the yellow leaf problem!

What to do when lucky bamboo leaves turn yellow?

1. "Not adapting to the new environment"

A newly bought lucky bamboo may develop a few yellow leaves as it adapts to the new environment. Do not worry, this is normal. Just cut off the yellow leaves and keep growing it.

2. Iron deficiency

Iron deficiency can cause leaves to turn yellow, so what should you do? First cut off the yellow leaves, then put a rusty iron nail in the water, and it can effectively improve the situation.

3. Sunburn

Lucky bamboo cannot tolerate too strong light. Even direct autumn sunlight can burn the leaves, causing yellowing and scorched tips.

After sunburn, first cut off the yellow leaves, add 2 drops of nutrient solution to the water, or put in a crushed aspirin, then move it to a ventilated spot with diffused light, and in about a week it will become full of life again.

4. Root rot

If lucky bamboo is not watered for a long time or not kept ventilated for a long time, it will cause root rot and yellow leaves.

Cut off the yellow leaves and rotted roots, rinse them clean with water, then soak them in potassium permanganate solution for disinfection; after disinfection, grow it in water again.

As the temperature gets lower and lower, many flower lovers have started to worry about getting lucky bamboo through the winter. Actually it is very simple. Just do the following points well!

How can water-grown lucky bamboo safely overwinter?

1. Move it indoors

Lucky bamboo is not very cold-tolerant, especially water-grown lucky bamboo. After the temperature drops to 10°C, it must be moved indoors. At 10~13°C it will go dormant, and after spring arrives it will grow rapidly

。

If you want lucky bamboo to keep growing in winter, then you must keep the indoor temperature at around 20°C.

2. Change the water

In winter, when the water temperature is too low, it cannot be added directly to the bottle, as it will freeze and damage the roots. Make sure the water temperature is around 20°C. Also, do not change the water too frequently. Change it once every 20~30 days, and there is no need to add nutrient solution.

3. Cover with a bag

During the day, place the lucky bamboo in a warm, bright spot and mist the leaves more. At night, cover it with a plastic bag to keep it warm and humid, which is more conducive to growth.

Alright, that is all Huahua has to say about lucky bamboo
