A 40-yuan nutritious lunch with steamed pork with rice flour, fresh bamboo shoots, sweet potato leaves and yam chicken soup

Showdown at the school dining table! Taiwan's first nationwide school lunch competition organized by a private body was grandly held on the 21st, hoping to select campus lunches that balance food safety, nutritional balance, attractive presentation and great taste (the winners list is at the end of the article). In the end, Xiufeng Elementary School in New Taipei City won the championship honor. The meal was rich in the local dietary characteristics of Xizhi, lightly seasoned, retaining the original flavors of the ingredients, and with highly feasible use of ingredients. It focused on using economical and affordable ingredients to create a five-star culinary feast, earning unanimous praise from the judges.

Huang Jialin, secretary-general of the preparatory office of the Dahsiang Food Education Association, said, "I am very happy that the competition has received so much attention and recognition. This year is only the beginning; the nationwide school lunch competition will definitely continue to be held." She hopes that through action, momentum will build to change Taiwan's campus lunches.
