Tips for caring for jasmine in autumn and winter: keep the leaves emerald green and it will bloom abundantly next year

Jasmine is an upright climbing shrub with pure white, very fragrant flowers. Keeping a pot of jasmine at home is better than an air freshener: the leaves are glossy green and the fragrance fills the room. But as everyone knows, jasmine is not cold-hardy. So how should jasmine be cared for in autumn and winter? In autumn and winter, how do you water jasmine, and how do you care for it so it gets through the winter smoothly and grows vigorously?
A little tip for growing jasmine in autumn and winter: the leaves stay glossy green, and next year it blooms in a bursting pot, with flowers all over the branches!
Prune once before winter begins, cutting away some of the overly dense branches, leggy branches, weak branches and diseased branches. Shorten the branches appropriately and cut off all the thin, weak ones to lighten the load; just leave some branches and leaves for photosynthesis. This reduces the consumption of nutrients and water, and reduces the area over which water evaporates. Less evaporation from the potting soil and leaves makes it easier for the plant to get through the winter.
Don't rush to move it indoors. As long as the temperature stays above 5°C and there is no frost, you can safely leave it outdoors for care. Don't move it indoors too early, because keeping it outside and letting it go through some low-temperature hardening will make it more resistant to the cold and able to adapt to a cold winter, so its adaptability increases.
When frost arrives and the temperature approaches 5°C or drops below 5°C, you can move it indoors, placing it on an enclosed balcony or on a windowsill, and be sure it gets plenty of sunlight. Jasmine loves to bask in the sun at any time, and the more sun it gets, the better it grows.
When the temperature drops below 0°C, Xiaoya has a simple little tip to help jasmine get through the winter smoothly.Although jasmine is not cold-hardy, with this little tip it won't fear the cold. Just take a plastic bag, and if one isn't enough, use two layers, to keep it warm and protect it from the cold, so the jasmine won't be damaged by freezing. However, if the temperature rises during the day, remove the bag promptly to let it ventilate and get some sun.
Water less. Jasmine is in its dormant period in winter, so it doesn't need much water. If you water too much and the potting soil is too wet, jasmine is prone to cold injury at low temperatures. So in winter, and in the period before spring arrives, never water too much. Water a little every two or three weeks, just keeping the inside of the potting soil slightly moist. If the pot is very large, it's fine not to water for a month. Many jasmine plants are ruined by heavy watering in winter.
Stop fertilizing in winter. Although jasmine likes fertile soil, don't fertilize it in winter. Also, don't transplant or move the jasmine.
Caring for jasmine this way in winter will let it get through the winter smoothly, and when the temperature rises in spring it will grow lots of new leaves, with glossy green foliage, vigorous growth and plenty of flowers!
