The "grow what you eat" series. Autumn is a beautiful sight, with fallen leaves everywhere, and of course all kinds of food you like. Sweet potatoes, chestnuts, radishes, and cabbage are all in season. So freshly picked ones are the best for planting! Today Yatou is going to introduce to you how to grow chestnuts!

Now supermarkets are stocking fresh chestnuts. Buy some and steam them at home, they are especially sweet and fragrant, but you should not eat too many chestnuts. Keep a few and try growing them at home yourself!

Step 1: Sprouting

Choose a few plump chestnuts, put them in a bag, tie it tightly, and just leave it indoors without any fuss. After 3-5 days, you will find, hey, they have sprouted! Here is a little trick: before sealing the bag, spray some water on the inner wall of the plastic bag (a thin layer is enough) to ensure the chestnuts have a relatively humid environment, so they will sprout faster!

Step 2: Planting

Actually, growing chestnuts is not as hard as you imagine! After they sprout, put the chestnuts with the small sprout facing down and bury them in the soil. Be careful not to break the small sprout during this process! Remember to spray water every day.

Step 3: Care

Soon you will see small green leaves growing next to the sprout, which means success! At this point you can move them into the sunlight and let them sunbathe, and the seedlings will grow faster!

Chestnuts grow on trees, so if you want to eat chestnuts you grew yourself, it is best to plant the chestnut seedlings in the yard. If you are only growing them for viewing, then a small pot is enough. Water less often to avoid leggy growth. If they grow too tall, it will also affect their appearance!

Or there is another good method: directly grow the rooted and leafy chestnuts in water. It does not matter how tall they grow, they all look very nice.
