I officially fell into the hobby in March this year, and one newbie starter set was enough to make me unable to stop. I spent the tough summer in the endless cycle of buying succulents and buying pots. Thankfully, most of the succulents welcomed their first autumn outside the balcony railing of their new home. My own home, my own succulents - how could a single word "satisfaction" ever describe it.

The first batch of succulents: Graptoveria 'Amethorum', Echeveria 'Yangjin', Echeveria 'Monroe', Echeveria 'Pinwheel', Echeveria 'Ruby', Echeveria 'Red Finger', Echeveria 'Ben Badis', Pachyphytum 'Blue Bird', etc. I trimmed the roots rather aggressively, and the pots were not suitable either, but as a newbie I forgave myself.

I kept them by the office window, where light and ventilation conditions were poor. I only hoped they would survive the summer and move with me to the new home.

As everyone knows, summer = turning green, growing leggy, and slowly passing away.

Although they all survived, I no longer felt like photographing them, just making a routine record.

In summer my attention was slightly drawn to herbaceous flowers.

At the end of August, the hard renovation of the new home was done, and I began moving my beloved plants to the outside of the balcony railing like an ant moving house. The succulents also gave me the best feedback.

In less than half a month the railing was packed full by me, and the succulents gradually hit their stride. In mid-October, I found a sunny afternoon and had my husband photograph some of the succulents as a record.

The resolution is too high to upload them one by one, so here is a screenshot!

I do not chase varieties; when in good condition, common ones are just as precious. Finally, I end with a photo of Brother Niu to anchor the post - after enjoying the succulents, go pet the cat.
