Orchids were once worth tens of thousands of yuan, now they are cheap and easy to grow, beautiful and fragrant, suitable for beginners

Introduction
Green plants and potted flowers are essential decorations for home life. Keeping some flowers and plants at home has many benefits: they beautify the room and delight the mood. "Huasheng Potted Plant Diary · Issue 1399" introduces you to a famous orchid variety.
Today's featured plant
Orchids are a traditional famous flower of our country, ranking among China's top ten famous flowers, and are highly admired throughout the entire Chinese character cultural sphere. To this day they remain one of the indoor potted flowers most loved by Chinese people. Today we introduce "Hong Shuangxi" (Red Double Happiness), once an astronomically priced plant, now very cheap. Let's learn about it together.
Hong Shuangxi
Hong Shuangxi is a natural hybrid orchid of Cymbidium goeringii (Chunlan) and Cymbidium goeringii var. serratum (Doubanlan). Its form resembles Chunlan, with broad leaves, and its flower color is the orange-red of Doubanlan. It changes color: when it first opens it is tender yellow, and after 3 days it gradually turns yellow, then slowly becomes orange-red. It is another famous color-changing flower from Yunnan, following the king of color-changing flowers, "Honghe Hong".
High ornamental value
The flowers of Hong Shuangxi are fleshy with lotus-type petals, and the flowers rise above the leaves. Yellow represents "wealth and honor," while orange-red represents "celebration" and "auspiciousness." It often produces two flowers on one scape, hence the name Hong Shuangxi (Red Double Happiness), meaning prosperity and double happiness arriving together. It has high ornamental value and an auspicious meaning. At its peak in 2006, a single seedling sold for over 80,000 yuan and was still sought after.
Easy to care for
Hong Shuangxi comes from the natural hybridization of Doubanlan and Chunlan, inheriting the excellent genes of both. Although it is widely regarded as Doubanlan, judging by the form of its flowers and leaves, it is more appropriately classified as Chunlan, and its characteristics are similar to those of Chunlan. Its flowering rate is also relatively high. It can be cultivated like an ordinary Chunlan, and its care is relatively simple. Once you understand its habits, it is very easy to grow.
Delicate fragrance that carries far
Unlike "Honghe Hong," which has no fragrance, Hong Shuangxi has a rich, delicate fragrance. An orchid without fragrance has no soul. Hong Shuangxi has it all: color, fragrance and form. Fortunately, with the current popularity of orchids and the expansion of cultivation scale, the price is getting cheaper and cheaper. Hong Shuangxi is now the same price as ordinary orchid plants, suitable for beginners to practice growing. If it doesn't survive, you won't feel the loss; if you grow it well, it becomes a beautiful bonsai orchid. It is worth having.
