Expert Clivia growing: 1 leaf grows 1 plant, dip it in "this" and white roots sprout in 2 weeks, 200 plants in 3 years
Clivia is a very popular houseplant. Many flower lovers like to keep a pot of Clivia at home, because it not only has emerald green, upright leaves, but also blooms with bright flowers in winter. Keeping Clivia at home symbolizes that the owner is noble in character, upright and elegant.
When caring for Clivia, many flower lovers buy potted Clivia from flower markets, or grow Clivia themselves by sowing seeds. Recently, some flower lovers used Clivia leaves for cutting propagation, and through proper care, the Clivia leaves actually grew pure white roots in 2 weeks. Today I will share this method of leaf-cutting Clivia leaves.
Clivia leaf cuttings: dip 1 leaf in "this" and white roots sprout in 2 weeks
The method of using Clivia leaves to produce plants through cuttings is very simple. Use a blade to cut a leaf from the lowest part of the Clivia root, then wash the leaf clean with fresh water. Dissolve 1 aspirin tablet in 500 grams of water, and after it is fully dissolved, soak the Clivia leaf in the water solution for 30 minutes, because aspirin contains acetylsalicylic acid, which promotes plant rooting and growth. Soaking the cut Clivia leaf in the aspirin water solution can promote rapid rooting of the plant later on.
Then insert the soaked Clivia leaf into a clean river sand medium; of course, it can also be inserted into vermiculite. Then place the pot on a balcony with good ventilation and good light, and keep the sand moist. The Clivia leaf can grow pure white roots in about 2 weeks. Continue caring for it for about 2 weeks, and you will see tender buds growing from the base of the leaf. Using this method to propagate Clivia is very fast, and after three years of cultivation you can obtain a large number of potted Clivia.
Clivia division propagation
The most common propagation method for Clivia is division propagation. After three years of care, the plant will grow side shoots. Generally, the side shoots of Clivia have the same traits as the mother plant. When the side shoots grow to 5-10 cm tall, division propagation can be carried out. In spring and autumn each year, when repotting and changing the soil for Clivia, you can cut the side shoots from the mother plant together with their roots, transplant them into pots, and with normal care obtain new potted Clivia.
Clivia seed propagation
Clivia is also a plant that can be propagated by sowing seeds. Clivia blooms in winter, and potted plants grown at home need artificial pollination before they can produce fruit in spring. The fruit usually ripens in autumn. The Clivia seeds can be picked and collected, then left for a winter for after-ripening. During the Spring Festival, soak them in fresh water for 2 days, then evenly scatter the seeds in mixed soil, cover the top with a layer of pine needle soil, and place the pot on a ventilated, warm balcony. The Clivia seeds will then germinate and grow into emerald green seedlings.
Seed propagation and division propagation are both very common, relatively simple to carry out, and have a very high success rate. But for cutting propagation, you need to master certain techniques, prepare clean leaves and a cutting medium, and after proper care later on, the plant can take root and sprout.
