Prune camellias with scissors before they bloom, and the flowers will bloom more vigorously

Camellias count as one of people's favorite plants. The flowers camellias produce are bright and red, with large petals, and people are happy to see them bloom, so they are widely loved. In autumn, many friends choose to plant camellias. Although the camellia season is in spring, if the indoor environment temperature is good enough, according to the experience of flower enthusiasts, they have found that November can still bring flowers!

Anyone who has experience growing camellias surely knows that before the camellias bloom, they grow many flower buds, and these buds will of course gradually develop into flowers in the near future. Before flowering, we need to do something for the camellia called "bud thinning."

Bud thinning is a fairly common method for camellias, and its purpose is fairly simple: to let the camellia bloom in a more shapely way, so the form and so on will be better, and it will look more appealing. In fact, it is not only camellias; for other flowering plants like this, if you want the plant's form to be better, Huahua also suggests using this bud-thinning management method.

Then some friends ask Huahua, why do camellias need bud thinning? For camellias, as the saying goes, "you can't catch the wolf without risking the child." Don't be fooled by how many buds grow; if every bud bloomed, those flowers would all rush to bloom at once, and there would likely not be enough nutrients, so the flowers produced would not be as beautiful.

There is another situation: if a camellia blooms too much, the roots, stems, and leaves are prone to problems of insufficient nutrition. To let the camellia's roots and stems grow healthily and better provide nutrients for the camellia, we need to remove a few flower buds.

So how should bud thinning be done? Actually, thinning buds on camellias is fairly simple. You can take a good look at how robust your camellia is. If the camellia at home is growing well, you can keep more buds; if its growth is rather delicate and weak, Huahua still suggests keeping fewer buds.

Generally speaking, when removing buds from camellias, you can choose to do it when the buds have grown to about the size of a soybean. Everyone should remember that the larger the buds grow, the more nutrients they absorb, and this is not good for the growth of the remaining buds. When thinning buds, you can use scissors to directly cut off the excess buds, leaving only about one-fifth of the bud at the base.

The operation is fairly simple. This method is also applicable to chrysanthemums. If you want the flowers to bloom large and with better quality, you might as well try this method. Although not many flowers bloom, the point of the flowers is to bloom exquisitely!

Has everyone learned this little trick that Huahua introduced today? When buds grow next year, you can give this little trick a try!
