Growing flowers has become part of our everyday lives; they can beautify the home and purify the air, but growing flowers is a skill that takes know-how. Today we've summed up a few little flower-growing secrets to help us grow them better.

1. Rotate the pot once a week

To grow flowers well, you need to ensure there is plenty of light. Plants have a certain phototropism, so it is best to rotate the pot once a week. This ensures the plant receives light evenly and does not end up growing crooked, especially for flowers with a neat, regular shape like the clivia (Clivia miniata).

2. Tap water needs to be left to stand

Watering is a very important matter in the process of plant growth. If you use tap water to water flowers, it is best to let it stand for a day or two first before watering. This allows the chlorine in it to evaporate and also lets sediment settle, which does a fairly good job of preventing the soil from compacting and the flower roots from being deprived of oxygen.

3. Repot every year

Flowers are limited by their pots, and the nutrients in the pot are generally used up by the plant after a year, becoming depleted. So every year, in spring and autumn, it is best to repot and re-pot the flowers. This replenishes sufficient nutrients for the plant, and you can trim off some of the old and rotten roots and replace the soil with loose, fertile soil.
