This flower has a funny vegetable-like name, yet it is beautiful and easy to grow. Have you ever grown it?

This flower is called columbine. When you first hear the name, you might think it is a vegetable, and normally you would not connect it with any kind of flower, but columbine is actually a very beautiful flowering plant. When columbine blooms, some people say it looks like a funnel, some say it looks like a farm tool, and others say it looks like a cat's paw. Either way, its flower shape is indeed quite unique.
The blooming period of columbine is roughly from April to July. The flowers are small and delicate, and the usual colors are purple, pink and white, but no matter which color, they all look lovely. You can see it in many park flower beds, green belts and even along roadsides. If you want to grow some beautiful flowering potted plants at home, you can give it a try.
The flowers of columbine also have a hemostatic effect, making it convenient and practical to grow in a pot. What's more, columbine also has a flower meaning that goes "must succeed, insist on winning". It is estimated that in many company offices, besides growing money trees, columbine can also be grown in a few pots.
Columbine is not difficult to care for. It is robust by nature and likes a cool climate, with an ideal temperature of around 15°C. Apart from being intolerant of sun exposure during the high summer heat, it does not need much fuss in other seasons, and the same goes for winter, because it is also fairly cold-tolerant. In the south, it basically does not need to be moved indoors to overwinter.
For potted columbine, it is best to choose a moist, fertile, sandy soil with good drainage, and to keep it moist for a long time. Usually, pay attention to watering frequently without letting water accumulate, which benefits its growth. In addition, although columbine is also shade-tolerant, plenty of sunlight is better for its blooming, and the colors will look even nicer.
Although columbine grows fairly quickly, if you do not buy a ready-made potted plant, the small seedlings you transplant yourself will basically not bloom until the second year, and if you grow them from seed, it may take even a bit longer. If you grow it yourself, you need the patience to wait for the flowers to open.
