Just-bought flowers: an old gardener teaches you to do this, they "adapt to the pot" in 2 weeks and every one grows vigorously

More and more people love growing flowers, and for many people their hobby is raising some plants and flowers. When they see some cute potted plants they like, they always buy them and take them home, place them on the balcony, and care for them attentively. Especially now in the cool autumn, many flower lovers buy some plants that bloom in winter at the flower market. Plants like narcissus, hyacinth, clivia, Christmas cactus and kalanchoe, if carefully cared for in autumn, can produce beautiful flowers in winter.

But generally, flowers just bought back from the flower market all need to go through your own later processing. By pruning the root system, changing the pot and soil, and letting the plant recover in a cool, shaded place, the plant can then enter its normal growth period. This is because flowers bought from the flower market are generally cultivated in bulk by sellers in seedling pots. First of all, the soil used to grow the plants is coconut coir or plain garden soil, which is unfavorable for long-term plant growth, so potted flowers just bought back must be processed first before you can care for them with peace of mind later.

Change the pot and soil, prune the plant

1. Prune the root system

Generally, after buying flowers back from the flower market, you must first take the plant out of the pot, check its root system, prune the excess roots, and keep only the thicker roots at the bottom.

2. Thin and trim the leaves

Surely when buying flowers everyone likes plants with lush foliage and thick, sturdy stems, but when caring for them after bringing them home, because you have to change the pot and soil and prune the root system, you also need to prune and tidy up the leaves of these plants. This is because after changing the pot and soil, the plant has a pot-adaptation period, during which the roots absorb very few nutrients, so branches and leaves must be pruned to reduce the nutrient consumption of the whole plant. Especially for plants like Christmas cactus and kalanchoe, when pruning you should cut off all the leaves at the bottom and the poor branches, then prepare mixed soil for potting and care. The general-purpose soil for home flower growing is 2 parts humus soil, 1 part garden soil, 1 part river sand. After fully stirring, use it to grow flowers; it is loose and breathable, and rich in nutrients.

Care during the pot-adaptation period

1. Let the plant recover in a cool, shaded place

The planted plant must be placed in a cool, shaded place to recover; it absolutely must not be placed directly on a balcony with good light or outdoors in the blazing sun. This is because after changing the pot, the plant's roots grow in a new environment, so it needs a pot-adaptation period. The potted plant needs to be placed in a cool indoor place for one to two weeks, and then its roots can adapt to the environment and begin to grow.

2. Control watering

During the pot-adaptation period, you must control watering. Many flower lovers, because they watered too frequently and too much early on, caused the plant's root system to rot and die. Generally during the pot-adaptation period, you only need to keep the potting soil moist; do not water at high frequency. Then placing the potted plant in a cool, ventilated place is most suitable for care.

By caring for just-bought flowers according to these two methods, they will quickly get through the pot-adaptation period and grow rapidly. In the later care process, as long as you water normally, let them receive scattered light, and place them on a ventilated balcony, the plants can grow quickly. Especially when caring in autumn for just-bought Christmas cactus, kalanchoe and clivia, you must care for them correctly to ensure healthy plant growth.
