Once autumn arrives, growers of rubber plants and money trees start worrying: if it is not yellowing leaves, it is leaf drop. Is it really just a seasonal problem? Actually no. Houseplants can generally stay evergreen all year round. When yellowing leaves or leaf drop appear, you need to be on guard right away. Follow Huahua's care methods, and in autumn the leaves will not drop; instead, they will be glossy and shiny!

Rubber plant

In autumn, the rubber plant can still put on a big burst of growth, so be sure to seize the timing. If you do not even know the following points, no wonder other people's plants grow like crazy while yours drop leaves nonstop!

Leaves that have already turned scorched yellow cannot be saved, so remove them promptly to avoid spreading disease. For the remaining leaves, you can mist them lightly with a small spray bottle, or wipe them once with a damp cloth, keeping the leaf surface clean, which helps leaf respiration.

Many growers water rather frequently, and that is not very good; plants easily get spoiled. In autumn, the rubber plant should be watered once every 8-10 days, and when you water, water thoroughly. Usually, mist around the leaves more often, which can likewise ensure water absorption.

Grab a handful of fertilizer cake crumbs, stuff them into a plastic bottle, add water, shake well, and leave it on a windowsill or in a corner of the balcony to ferment for 1 month before use. Dilute with water and water once every 1-2 weeks; the rubber plant's leaves will be big and thick, and glossy and bright.

Money tree

The money tree tends to develop problems when the seasons change, especially from summer into autumn and from autumn into winter; when the weather turns cold, there are even more problems.

The autumn wind is bleak, and being blown by it too much every day easily causes leaf drop, so it is best to place the money tree in a windless spot. It should be windless yet still keep good ventilation; this is not contradictory. In autumn and winter, the wind generally comes from the northwest, so placing it on a southeast balcony or windowsill is fine~

2. Watering takes years of skill; change the frequency when the season changes

Summer is the peak growing season for the money tree. Although autumn is dry, its overall life activity slows down, so the watering interval should be lengthened. If you previously watered once a week, change it to once every half month; if your home is fairly humid, you can also water once a month.

3. When caring for the money tree in autumn, this is indispensable

Some growers complain that the money tree grows slowly, which shows that the nutrients in the potting soil are almost used up. Besides adding some compound fertilizer or nutrient solution, Huahua suggests repotting and changing the soil, as the effect will be more obvious~

The temperature is suitable now; if you repot when it is colder, it will be risky. Dig out the money tree, clean the soil off the roots, mix fresh nutrient soil + granular soil + garden soil, plant it into the new soil and press it firm, then water thoroughly and place it in a ventilated spot away from light; it will take about 1 week to establish.

4. Even a money tree close to death can be saved

Many growers' money trees are already half dead. Do not throw them away; in most cases the roots have rotted. Cut off the rotted part, and the remaining upper half or healthy branches can still be planted.

Money trees stuck in soil easily develop black stems, so you can put them in a water culture bottle to root in water, which is fast and has a high survival rate. The trunk does not need to be inserted into the water; it can root using the water vapor. Note: tap water should be left to stand for 1 day before use, otherwise the chlorine is too strong and it will be hard to grow anything!
