Agronomy Market Challenge 01: What Else Do Consumers Expect Besides Eco-Friendly Produce?
The 10th "National Agronomy Market Symposium" was held on the 14th and 15th at National Taiwan University. This year's "host" role fell to the Water Garden Organic Farmers' Market and Haoshiji Agricultural Food Integration Co., Ltd. Facing the challenge of abnormal climate and major retail channels rolling out eco-friendly produce, farmers' markets are no longer the only channel for selling smallholder produce. This year the number of farmers' markets hit a new low, and many producers are working hard to find solutions, wanting to know why consumers no longer want to visit markets.
Huang Juncheng, Secretary-General of the Water Garden Organic Farmers' Market, said this year's symposium was different from previous years, as markets were not invited on stage to introduce themselves and hug each other. "If we don't properly discuss the next step, we may not be able to hold it next year either." He stressed that markets need a sense of crisis and must find a way out in response to various shocks, so that farmers' markets can have another ten years.
