What is the most annoying thing about growing flowers at home? That's right, it's tiny flying insects! Especially the tiny black flies, as annoying as annoying can be, not only do they affect the home environment, they gather in a swarm on the plants eating the flowers and grass, and if you spray them with insecticide, it really can kill them, but within a few days they come back in full force. It really leaves you with no options!

So how exactly can you completely wipe out these annoying tiny flying insects? Huahua has fought wits and battles with them for a long time, and finally summed up a few clever tricks, tried a hundred times and effective every time!

1. Eliminate the tiny black flies from the root, first of all, prevent them

Many friends like to use humus soil when growing flowers at home, and in order to provide nutrients to the plants they sometimes also use homemade organic fertilizer, and at the same time the flower-growing environment is also relatively humid, so it is especially easy to attract tiny flying insects.

  • Use clean water

Water the flowers with clean water, avoid water that contains organic matter, and this can greatly reduce the appearance of tiny flying insects.

  • Sterilize the soil

Sun the soil or sterilize it at high temperature, which not only kills the bacteria and fungi contained in the soil, but also kills the eggs of pests, reducing the appearance of tiny flying insects from the root.

  • Cover the pot soil surface with sand

Using this method can to a certain extent cut off the contact between the pot soil and the outside air, and fine sand or small pebbles also have good drainage and breathability.

  • Keep the environment clean and hygienic

Tiny black flies like a humus-rich environment, so avoid fallen leaves and fruit peels appearing in the flower pots, and avoid creating an environment suitable for tiny insects to live and breed.

2. How to kill the tiny flying insects

  • Lure them with a water tray

Find a water basin or plate at home, pour in some laundry detergent water, soapy water or sugar water, no need to pour in much, put the water basin near the plants, then just wait for the tiny black flies to fly onto the water surface.

  • Use insect sticky traps

Buy a few insect sticky traps on the market and put them where the tiny flying insects often appear; they release a scent that the insects like and can stick quite a few flying insects, the effect is very good.

Here Huahua also has a little secret tip to tell everyone: tiny black flies prefer blue sticky boards, while aphids prefer yellow sticky boards, so when killing insects, choosing by color will give better results~

  • Light mosquito coils near the flower pots

Mosquito coils contain certain substances that can effectively kill tiny black flies and other insects. Light a mosquito coil at home, close the doors and windows, and after the mosquito coil has burned completely, open the doors and windows for ventilation; then you will see some killed tiny black flies on the ground.

How to kill the larvae in the soil

After spraying insecticide, the tiny black flies always come back again, because when people kill the insects they only kill the adults and ignore the larvae in the soil; the larvae always grow especially fast and can become adults within a few days, so killing the larvae is very necessary.

  • Drench the pot to kill the larvae

Generally at home you can use a liquid solution to drench the plants and kill the larvae in the soil; a commonly used solution is potassium permanganate, diluted with clean water at a 1:1000 ratio, which can effectively kill the eggs and bacteria in the soil.

In addition, you can also use abamectin, or soak mosquito coil pieces in water and drench the pot, which is equally effective. So, aren't these methods simple? Follow these methods and I guarantee the annoying tiny black flies won't appear at home again!
