The "banana" pride of Taiwan, China: Yunlin bananas successfully exported to Japan

It is the autumn banana season. Yunlin County Magistrate Li Jinyong said that autumn bananas produced in Yunlin have a fragrant, springy, and sweet taste and are already highly favored by consumers in the country. In order to promote Yunlin's high-quality bananas internationally, the Citong Fruit and Vegetable Production Cooperative began cooperating with Taiwan Agricultural Development Co. last year to export bananas to the Middle East. At the beginning of this year, it also exported "Oolong" variety bananas to Japan. Yunlin's high-quality bananas are very popular in Japan, and Japanese traders have continued to purchase them. From the start of this year's production season until June next year, the Citong Fruit and Vegetable Production Cooperative is expected to export 600 metric tons of bananas to Japan.

On the 15th, the first 6 tons of bananas of this season were loaded into containers. Magistrate Li Jinyong made a special trip to the Citong Fruit and Vegetable Production Cooperative to learn about the banana export situation. Deputy Magistrate Ding Yanzhe, Agriculture Director Zhang Hongyou, Lin Meihua, Director of the Central Branch of the Agriculture and Food Agency, Su Mingli, Chairman of the Board of the Citong Fruit and Vegetable Production Cooperative, Citong Township Chief Liao Qiurong, and Councilor Jiang Wendeng jointly conducted the container-sealing ceremony.

Magistrate Li Jinyong said that Yunlin County has about more than 600 hectares of banana planting area. The bananas contract-farmed by the Citong Fruit and Vegetable Production Cooperative and farmers are managed in clean and beautiful banana orchards, with controlled timing and application amounts of pesticides and fertilizers, and they have also obtained production records. Last year, when Taiwan Agricultural Development exported bananas to the Middle East for the first time, it sought the Citong Fruit and Vegetable Production Cooperative for supply. This time, it has again been favored by the Japanese market, which is the pride of Yunlin.

What was exported to Japan this time is the "Oolong" variety banana. Chairman Su Mingli said that the cooperative contract-farms the "Oolong" variety golden banana with farmers. Its color is more golden than the commonly seen Beijiao and Taijiao No. 5 on the market, with an attractive golden color, and it has a fragrant, springy, and lightly sweet taste and is not prone to fruit cracking. Bananas produced in Yunlin are high in quality and delicious, and together with Yunlin farmers' excellent banana orchard management skills, they have enabled Taiwan, China bananas to once again return to the Japanese market, becoming Yunlin's "banana" pride.
