Balconies are no longer enough for gardening enthusiasts. Some have come up with the idea of growing potted chili peppers at home, growing vegetables right inside the house. Among the varieties of potted vegetables, the more common ones include potted onions, potted sweet potatoes, potted chili peppers, and so on. Compared with flowers like pothos and spider plants, these are not as pretty to look at but they can be eaten. Now a gardening enthusiast has taken action: growing chili peppers without pots, using a homemade "woven bag", harvesting 100 jin a year, more than they can eat!

For potted chili peppers we all use flower pots, but one netizen used a "woven bag", a homemade one, saving the money on buying flower pots. Using a woven bag from home as a pot counts as a second use, making use of waste, and the chili peppers in every bag grew well, making you want to pick them just looking at them. It is said that 100 jin can be harvested in a year.

If gardening enthusiasts want to grow chili peppers on the balcony, that works too. Potted chili peppers do not need much space to grow; a flower pot of about 30 cm is enough to plant chili peppers. Grow them from seed: chili seeds soaked in water overnight sprout very easily, and the seedlings grow quickly too. A mature chili plant looks quite nice, no worse than pothos or spider plants, and it is fun as well.

Note that the container for planting should be at least 25 cm deep, and the planting spot should not be in blazing sun at first; give the seedlings plenty of diffused light. Choose the right timing for planting chili peppers; they can be planted at a temperature of around 17-20°C, generally after warm spring weather arrives. For growing chili peppers you can choose different varieties, and label each variety.

If you choose sowing, before sowing you can first soak the seeds in a carbendazim solution, then soak them in clean water overnight; you can also soak them in warm water for half an hour, and then sow. The germination rate is especially high and germination is faster. During the seedling stage avoid direct sunlight and keep plenty of diffused light. When the seedlings grow to 4 true leaves, they can be transplanted; choose the seedlings with sturdy stems and leaves to grow on, and the other seedlings can only be discarded.

The gardening enthusiast above who grew chili peppers in woven bags said that if a flower pot has better breathability, the plant's root system will grow more vigorously. In the past when watering plants, there was always the worry of watering too much or not watering all the way through; now with woven bags, some situations where it is easy to water wrongly can be avoided. They are even easier to grow than pothos. Interested gardening enthusiasts might as well give it a try, and can start with the sowing method.
