As people's living standards improve, more and more people like to keep some plants and flowers at home. Plants like clivia, lucky bamboo, Christmas cactus, and bougainvillea are all very common household potted plants. Keeping them at home can beautify the environment, purify the air, and benefit the health of family members.

This "fruit": bury a seed or take a cutting, and in 1 year it grows into a potted plant, bearing 100 fruits the next year

For people who love growing plants, besides keeping some flowers and greenery at home, they are also constantly trying to grow various fruit potted plants and vegetable potted plants. Just like the fig potted plant my neighbor grows, which I am sharing with you today. It produced figs just one year after being potted. It can be kept at home as a potted plant and also bear fruit for the family to enjoy.

How to grow figs

1. Growing from cuttings

For normal fig care, you can prune healthy branches every spring and use them for cuttings. Generally, cut 20-30 cm branches, keeping only the leaves at the top of the branch, then make a slanted cut at the bottom end. Soak the prepared branches in a 0.2% rooting powder water solution for 10 minutes, then take them out and let them dry.

Prepare clean river sand, put it into a flower pot, insert the fig branches into the pot, and keep them in a cool place for about two weeks, and the fig branches will take root. After later care, before summer arrives, you can transplant the figs into flower pots. Use a mixed soil meant for growing plants, and it will meet the fig's normal growth needs. After 1 year of care, the figs will bear fruit the next year.

2. Propagating from seed

Figs can also be propagated from seed to obtain more small plants. Now is exactly the season when figs are ripe. Take the mature fig seeds out of the fruit pulp, rinse them clean and dry them. In spring, prepare moist sandy soil and a flower pot, and soak the fig seeds in warm water for one day to sprout them. Then scatter them in the flower pot, cover with a layer of fine sand, cover with a plastic bag, and keep the pot in a cool indoor place for care. After about 7 days, the fig seeds will sprout and grow into seedlings.

In the later process of caring for figs, you need to supplement the plant with fertilizer every spring. Generally, choose organic fertilizer, humus soil, or sheep manure, all of which can be buried in the fig pot. But be careful to control fertilization to prevent over-fertilizing from burning the fig's root system. When caring for a fig potted plant in summer, give the plant more light and water it normally to promote rapid growth. Generally, for cuttings propagation, after one year, the plant can begin to bear fruit one after another.

The fig is a cold-tolerant plant, so in winter you can keep it outdoors for care. As long as the soil is kept moist, it can survive the winter smoothly. With normal watering and fertilizing of the fig, one fig potted plant can bear hundreds of fruits.
