As a city dweller, if you have a terrace or an unenclosed large balcony at home, it's truly wonderful and makes others quite envious, because growing some flowers and plants or potted vegetables and fruits is all very easy. Flowers like lotus and bowl lotus absolutely love sunlight. If your rooftop or terrace gets plenty of sunlight and has enough space to fit large pots and tubs, then growing a pot of lotus, water lily, bowl lotus or the like looks really beautiful.

Growing a pot of lotus on the terrace, the leaves grow rapidly, and you don't just get to enjoy the flowers - there's a little surprise at the end too!

Tips for growing lotus at home:

The method for growing lotus is quite simple. Prepare a fairly large tub or a large pot without drainage holes, or even a big bucket - the bigger the better. The more space there is, the more room the lotus has, and with ample nutrients and fertility, it will grow more beautifully and vigorously. You can grow it from seeds, or directly from sprouted lotus rhizomes.

Growing lotus in a large tub - if you want it to have plenty of lush leaves, bloom smoothly and produce more flowers, you need to pay attention: it must be placed in the spot with the most abundant sunlight. The more sun it gets, the better it grows.

Also, the soil needs to be fertile and deep. You can use pond mud. Some flower growers use straw or dry grass plus leaf mold, fermented and composted together to grow lotus. In short, the darker and more fertile the soil color, the better.

Some flower growers ask why their lotus only grows leaves but never blooms. One reason is that it absolutely must have plenty of sunlight, and another is that it needs fertilizing. For fertilizing potted lotus and water lilies, one grower shared a little trick: wrap a small packet of compound fertilizer in paper and bury it in the mud. The amount each time must not be too much. Then it will grow leaves as big as a washbasin - large and beautiful.

The lotus a flower grower planted in a large pot on the terrace even produced lots of lotus rhizomes in the end - it really feels like a super surprise. Growing lotus in a large tub is truly especially beautiful.

Many of Xiaoya's flower-growing friends do this too. Some put large tubs on the rooftop to grow lotus, some place them on the terrace, and then grow some other flowers and potted plants too, like a climbing rose, making it look like a small garden. Beside the lotus they place a wooden chair. In summer, sitting on the chair, watching the little goldfish swimming back and forth in the large tub and the lotus in full bloom, life is very comfortable and pleasant!
