As the saying goes: "If you want flowers to grow well, you can't do without fertilizer." When the weather turns cold, the Christmas cactus also needs a little extra nutrition. Once it has eaten its fill, it naturally has strong resistance, grows well, and when it blooms you see only flowers, not leaves.

Eggs are indispensable in our daily lives. They not only provide nutrition for people, but can also provide nutrient elements for the growth of the Christmas cactus, such as phosphorus, calcium, iron and so on. The abundant protein in egg white, after decomposition, can supply nitrogen to the Christmas cactus; and egg yolk, after fermentation, can be converted into phosphorus, supplying energy to the Christmas cactus and promoting flowering. Next, Xiaoye will teach you how to use them.

Watering flowers with egg water makes branches lush and leaves abundant

The water used to boil eggs is rich in minerals, and using this mineral-rich water on the Christmas cactus can promote its growth.

When using it, there is no need for fermentation either. Just wait for the water to cool, then pour it into a spray bottle and water it onto the soil. But the water used to boil eggs must only be plain water. If it is salt water or tea water, it cannot be used, otherwise it will have the opposite effect.

Fermented egg white promotes growth

After fermentation, egg white can decompose into nitrogen fertilizer that promotes the growth of the Christmas cactus roots. When using it, gardeners should first separate the egg white from the yolk, then put the egg white into a clean container, add 800 ml of water, add some orange peel to the container to remove the odor, cover it with a lid and shake well to mix, and finally put it in the sun to ferment.

The fermentation time is generally 1 to 2 months. After fermentation is complete, take out the liquid and use it. Dilute the egg white liquid with clean water at a ratio of 1:20, and water the Christmas cactus directly with it to promote its growth and make its leaves emerald green and glossy. It should not be used more than 2 times a month.

If some gardeners feel the fermentation time is too long and don't have the patience to wait, or can't stand the fishy smell of egg white, they can use a general-purpose microbial fertilizer for flowers, which can also supply nutrients, promote the growth of its roots and branches, and is safe and odorless.

Burying an egg in the soil provides long-term fertilizer

Besides the two methods above, eggs can also be buried in the soil. This method is also very simple. First prepare an egg and crack it open. This is very important. If the shell is not cracked, the egg will directly rot and smell in the soil, attract pests, and also fail to provide nutrients to the Christmas cactus.

After cracking it, you also need to pierce the membrane inside the egg. After piercing it, bury it in the soil. When burying it, keep it away from the roots, and don't bury it at the bottom of the flower pot. After burying it, cover it with fresh nutrient soil. In this way, the egg liquid can slowly ferment inside the shell, continuously providing nutrients to the Christmas cactus and helping it grow better.

This is the method of using eggs to grow the Christmas cactus. Have you gardeners learned it? If you use this method, gardeners, remember to keep good ventilation.
