Put a fig in a bottle and white roots sprout in 8 days, and one plant can bear 2 jin of fruit

A gardening enthusiast said he wanted to propagate figs. He tried once, sticking a cutting directly into a flower pot with ordinary soil and two leaves, but on the third day the branch wilted and it did not survive. He did not know what to do. Today I will introduce a method: put a "fig" in a bottle, white roots sprout in 8 days, and one plant can grow 2 jin of fruit!
Figs are mostly propagated by cuttings. In spring, choose vigorous 1-year-old branches about 1.5 cm thick and 20~25 cm long as cuttings. Prepare a fairly large bottle, lay a layer of wet towel at the bottom of the bottle, then spread several layers of wet paper towels. After placing the branches, remember to cover the mouth of the plastic bucket with a layer of wet paper towels, then seal the bucket mouth with plastic wrap.
At this point it can be placed in a place without light, that is, what we commonly call a cool and ventilated place. After half a month, when the buds reach 3~6 cm, keep only 1 strong bud at the base and remove the rest. Cuttings root easily this way. After about one week, the root system of the cutting branches will be stable. After about two weeks, you can see some new leaves beginning to grow on the branches, and by then the branches have all survived.
When can they be potted up? When you see white fine roots and some small white spots on the branches, and the root system is somewhat thicker, they can be potted up as cuttings. Some may even bear fruit in the same year, while most bear fruit in the second year. The conspicuous sprout branches growing at the root crown of the fig can be cut off with a sharp knife for division propagation, and planted directly in small pots for care. Figs can also be propagated by layering.
Figs like a warm, dry and hot climate and have poor cold resistance. The optimum temperature is 8~20 °C. They are drought-tolerant and tolerant of poor soil, and have no strict requirements for soil. Their suitable growing area is very wide. In China, from Hainan in the south to Liaoning in the north, from Weihai in Shandong in the east to the western frontier of Xinjiang in the west, figs are cultivated everywhere.
Figs are not tolerant of severe cold. When the winter temperature is below -5 °C, potted plants will suffer freezing damage, and ground-planted ones cannot endure a low temperature of -10 °C either, so soil needs to be piled around the roots to protect them from the cold. Autumn cuttings can be taken after leaf fall. Because the temperature is relatively low for spring cuttings, the cuttings need about 50 days to root, but their nutrient content is rich, and the survival rate can reach more than 95%.
