Can a money tree be divided from one vigorously growing pot into several smaller pots? The answer is yes, this plant is very well suited to propagation by division, so how exactly should it be done? To keep it short, let's take a look together below.

The method florists would never tell you even if you begged

How to propagate a money tree by division

1. How to remove the plant from its pot

The best time to propagate a money tree by division is the following spring. If you want to separate the plant at this time and increase its survival rate, you should choose April for the division work. When the outdoor temperature reaches about 20°C, you can take a plant with a fairly lush shape out of its pot and shake off the old soil from the roots.

2. Disinfecting the tubers

Cutting the tubers: based on the characteristics of the dormant bud points on the plant's tubers, you can cut the larger tubers into small tuber pieces that each carry 3-4 bud points. After shaking off the soil, examine the plant's tubers and see where they are thinner and easier to cut. After cutting, apply the previously prepared water-soluble carbendazim powder to the cut surfaces of the tubers.

3. Wound healing

Place the disinfected tuber pieces in a cool, ventilated spot and wait for their wounds to heal and dry. Then prepare a pot of slightly moist fine sand and bury these healed small tubers in the moist sand. Care for them attentively, and slowly they will grow into independent little plantlets.

4. Planting method

Prepare a somewhat larger flower pot, spread a layer of small stones or crushed brick fragments on the bottom of the pot, then fill the pot with a mixed substrate of 1/5 peat soil, 1/5 garden soil, 3/5 soil, a small amount of honeycomb coal cinder and a small amount of coarse sand. Bury the small tuber pieces on top, and before long they will continue to grow into fairly robust plants.
