What should you do when the potting soil is as hard as stone? Add a little loosening agent and the flowers will immediately grow like crazy

Recently, a gardening friend asked me, why is it that I water my flowers every day, but the water just won't soak through? Isn't it obvious? It must be that the potting soil has become compacted! If your potting soil is almost turning into stone, then of course water won't soak through! Today, Huahua is here to teach everyone a few little methods, so how exactly do we solve this problem?
Signs of compacted potting soil
If cracks have appeared on the surface of your flowerpot, the soil is extremely hard, you can't poke through it with your hand at all, and it can't absorb water when you water it, then it is basically compacted soil.
After soil becomes compacted, mild cases can cause flowers to wilt, develop yellow leaves, and drop leaves, while severe soil compaction can block the roots' breathing, cause root rot, and in the end the entire plant dies!
Stick a toothpick into the potting soil and the compaction is solved immediately!
For some gardening friends in the north, the temperature has already reached around 5°C now, and at this time it is no longer suitable to repot, so you have to use a few little methods to solve it!
1. Stick 1 tube into the pot
After the soil becomes compacted, you can use chopsticks or a small wooden stick to poke a few holes in the potting soil, then insert a straw into them, and slowly pour coarse sand or fine coal cinders into the straw. In this way, when you water, the soil can gradually become loose! But be careful not to poke the straw into the roots.
2. Sprinkle some worm castings or sheep manure pellets on the pot surface
Compacted soil basically has no fertility left at all. At this time, you can sprinkle a few sheep manure pellets or worm castings on the pot surface, so that when you water, the nutrients penetrate into the soil along with the water, which can also improve soil compaction.
3. Tap the flowerpot
If you have a plastic flowerpot at home, you can choose to tap it a few times to loosen the soil. Hold the flowerpot with one hand, and pat the outer wall of the flowerpot with the other hand, so that the soil in the pot can be loosened. At the same time, use a small shovel to loosen the soil, and the compaction can be improved.
Repot the flower and the compaction is solved immediately!
Of course, the best way to solve soil compaction is definitely still to change to new soil!
1. After the soil becomes compacted, hold the flowerpot with one hand, hold the root crown of the plant with the other hand, and turn the whole pot of soil upside down to take it out.
2. Remove the compacted soil and prepare loose, breathable soil. You can use garden soil mixed with a little perlite, vermiculite, or pine needles, etc., to make a loose and breathable nutrient soil.
3. Pot the plant directly, water it thoroughly once, place it in a cool and ventilated place for a few days to recover, and then carry out normal care!

Mix a little of this into the soil and it will never become compacted again!
When repotting flowers, in order to ensure looseness and breathability, you need to mix a little something into the potting soil.
1. Mix in some pine needles
Pine needles are loose and breathable, very suitable for laying at the bottom of the pot. Usually, go under a pine tree, dig open the top layer, and directly dig out the blackened pine needles underneath. Take them home, soak them in a carbendazim solution, and they are ready to use!
2. Mix in some coal cinders
If you come across a gardening friend who burns honeycomb coal, you can ask for some burned coal cinders, take them home and smash them into small pieces the size of a thumb, soak them in clean water for a few days, take them out and let them dry, and then they can be mixed directly with the soil for use. The loosening and breathing effect is excellent!
3. Mix in some eggshells
Eggshells are a common thing at home. Collect the eggshells, wash them clean, dry them in the sun and crush them, then mix them directly with garden soil for use. Eggshells can not only achieve the purpose of loosening and breathing, but also supplement calcium, making flowers grow stronger!
As for how to ease soil compaction,
that is all Huahua is introducing today!
