Growing in every place has its advantages; many people say they are unwilling to live in the countryside, but that is really because they do not know how many benefits country life brings. In the countryside, we can always eat all kinds of fresh vegetables, fruits, and even wild vegetables and wild fruits, and they are all completely natural, and we can also learn how many things are actually processed, and so on. Of course, sometimes there are downsides too, and that is that for many farmer friends in the growing business, a good harvest is a good thing, but being unable to sell the produce is very bad. Today I will introduce to you a fruit that is very common in northern rural areas.

It is the persimmon. Every year, as long as October arrives, the red fruit hangs all over the mountains and fields, and this fruit is the persimmon. My hometown is a small rural mountain village. Back then, no one in our village planted persimmon trees; those persimmon trees had grown on the mountain since who knows when, so these persimmon trees were basically wild and grew under the care of nature.

Every year when the fruit ripens, the persimmons on the trees are too numerous to count. No matter who wants to eat persimmons, they just go up the mountain to pick them, and they can have as many as they want. Moreover, these persimmons are very filling; usually eating 2 of them is enough to fill you up.

So in our countryside, the persimmon is a kind of fruit there is never a shortage of, and at that time often more than half of the persimmons just rotted on the trees.

Of course, the wild persimmons that rotted on the trees were not wasted either. These wild persimmons that no one picked stayed on the trees, and the birds passing by certainly got a treat. These persimmons became their biggest source of food. Just like that, for the wild persimmons growing in the countryside, besides a small portion that could be eaten, most of the persimmons fed the birds.

However, for farmer friends in some northern rural areas, this persimmon is a treasure, because they make their living by growing persimmons. But many farmer friends who grow persimmons are not happy after the persimmons have a good harvest, because society today does not lack fruit. A good harvest is a good thing, but being unable to sell and having the produce sit unsold is a bad thing, so it is often seen that quite a few fruit growers dump persimmons into ditches, and even crush them.

Although persimmons are abundant and very common in the countryside, in the city, every year when the persimmon season arrives, the selling price of persimmons is not low. In the city, persimmons can sell for 10 yuan for three jin. Sometimes a single large persimmon can weigh eight or nine liang, and 10 yuan cannot buy many persimmons. If processed into dried persimmons, it may cost as much as ten yuan per jin. But even so, in the city there are still people rushing to buy persimmons, probably afraid that after the season passes they will not be able to eat them.

I really did not expect that the persimmon, which is very common in the countryside, would actually become a treasure after reaching the city because of its small quantity. Truly, things are precious when they are scarce.

Dear friends, do you grow persimmons where you are? Do you like eating persimmons?
