Remember the "three don'ts and two dos" for orchid care, and next year the leaves will be lush green, and blooming 4 times a year is no dream.

Orchids have been our pride since ancient times, with an unruly charm and temperament, and today they are favored by more and more people. Likewise, when it comes to caring for orchids, our elders drew on their own hands-on experience and summed up a series of clever orchid-growing tips, so that today we can avoid many detours. As the foremost of China's top ten flowers, the orchid has the bearing of a gentleman and a noble, pure and extraordinary integrity, making it very popular. But orchids are easy on the eyes yet hard to care for, so how exactly should orchids be cared for? Expert orchid growers have summed up the "three don'ts and two dos" of orchid care, which has greatly benefited those of us who grow orchids.

The first is don't fuss over them. As a herbaceous plant, the orchid cannot withstand too much fussing. This is especially true of the orchid's root system; if it is not properly protected, the orchid can easily suffer root rot and disease, and the loss outweighs the gain. So orchids must never be fussed over, which means not randomly moving the pot, turning the pot, or frequently changing the potting soil and loosening the soil, as such fussing can all lead to root rot and the like.

The second is don't water frequently. Some orchid-growing friends are extremely attentive to their orchids, afraid that their orchids are not drinking enough, so they give their orchids a good soak at every turn. Little do they know that watering orchids so irregularly causes water to accumulate in the pot, leading the orchid to rot at the roots and die from waterlogging. Normally, simply keep the potting medium slightly moist.

The third is don't divide the plants. Many flower lovers are impatient and want to turn one pot of orchids into many pots in a short time. So when the orchid grows many new shoots, they rush to divide it, which causes considerable harm to the mother plant. Only when the new shoots have grown to the stage of separating leaves is it the best time to divide. And when dividing, try to keep 3 to 5 shoots together for the highest survival rate.

The first do is to let orchids get plenty of sun. Because the orchid is a semi-sun-loving plant, it especially likes diffused light. So when caring for orchids, we can let them receive low-intensity light every morning from 8:00-10:00 and afternoon from 5:00-7:00. This lets the orchid fully carry out photosynthesis and absorb nutrients.

The second do is plenty of ventilation. When caring for orchids, be sure to keep them ventilated. Only then can you promote the differentiation of new shoots and effective photosynthesis, speeding up leaf growth and the orchid roots' absorption of nutrients.

So, growing orchids means knowing the veteran growers' orchid wisdom, which lets us avoid many stumbling blocks on the path of orchid care and grow orchids in a pleasant atmosphere, cultivating our character. Isn't that a joyful thing?
