If your home doesn't get much light but you still love growing flowers, you definitely need to know about the flowers below. They are extremely shade-tolerant and can bloom into a big display even on a north balcony. This is the season to get them!

Crab Claw Cactus (Schlumbergera)

1. Characteristics: a short-day plant that prefers partial shade; suitable for growing on a north balcony, east or west balconies, and indoors.

2. Minimum temperature tolerated: 5°C

3. Care tips

In autumn and winter the air is dry, so mist the leaves often; after winter begins, move it indoors; spray it monthly with a potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution, keep light exposure within 8-10 hours, and it will bloom after 2 months.

African Violet

2. Minimum temperature tolerated: 5°C; with indoor heating in the north, it can bloom continuously

3. Care tips

Be careful to provide shade; even direct sunlight in spring and autumn can scorch the leaves; take cuttings in autumn, as growth is very fast; before blooming, water the roots with a 05% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution.

Peace Lily

After November arrives, the peace lily must be brought indoors; usually mist and spray it often to maintain fairly high air humidity.

Cyclamen likes light fertilizer; during its vigorous growth from October to December, apply a compound fertilizer once every 7 days, and keep the potting soil moist but not waterlogged.

Hydrangea

Water less and mist more; one month before the flowering period, shade it to help flower buds form as quickly as possible.

2. Minimum temperature tolerated: 5°C

3. Care tips

Leaf mold is the best soil to use, and keep good ventilation; during the growing period, water it 2-3 times a month with beer water and it will grow very well.

Gloxinia

1. Characteristics: tolerates partial shade and can bloom with indoor indirect light alone; suitable for a north-facing balcony or east- and west-facing balconies.

2. Minimum temperature tolerated: 5°C; can bloom continuously indoors in winter
