It's autumn, the growing season for succulents, and also the breeding season for scale insects, especially for succulent growers in the south, where it isn't cold but rather warm, and it's exactly the time when scale insects easily breed, so how do you deal with these annoying little bugs?

Generally speaking, white bugs on succulent leaves are usually scale insects. Succulent growers may never escape the curse of scale insects. There's no need to worry when you see these white bugs; with proper treatment they can still be cured.

1. Alcohol

A fairly common method for killing scale insects is to use alcohol. You can buy 75% concentration alcohol online, which is enough for us succulent lovers. You can use a brush or cotton swab dipped in alcohol to wipe the affected areas. If the leaves are dense and hard to wipe, you can pour alcohol onto the severely affected areas. Generally speaking, any bugs that get soaked will die, and using it a few more times will clear them out completely.

2. Rinse with water

We can use a spray bottle or an adjustable nozzle to spray the scale insects away. Of course, although this method can't cure the problem at its root, it can effectively control the pest. This method is more suitable when repotting succulents: rinse the scale insects clean, then repot.

3. Spray with pesticide

If the pest infestation is relatively severe, you'll need to use pesticide. You can try products such as Jiebizhi, methidathion, avermectin, chlorpyrifos, and so on. When using them, pay attention to controlling the concentration. It's best to spray in the afternoon, and you also need to control the concentration. Just try a few more times, and be careful not to cause pesticide damage or pollute the air.
